and Angel Dorei Museum
April 4 - May 3, 2009
Musical Event at Museum of SL Photography:
Sunday April 19, 5pmSL - 7pm featuring Russell Eponym and Somerset Oh & Rhode

Russell EponymRussell is an accomplished guitarist as well as a superb harmonica player - his finger picking is of the highest caliber and his eloquent vocal style, reminiscent of the finest British thespians of the West End Theatre District, is rich and engaging- whether he is singing one of his original compositions, or any of his superbly selected covers. Russell's original song "You Have no Eyes" which tells of diversity and acceptance, will be featured in his set at MoSLP.

Somerset Oh & Rhode - SOARComposed of Charles Somerset, Bright Oh and Experiment Rhode, Soar's original songs are heartfelt and sincere telling musical stories of people and places who have touched their lives . The honest lyrics and simple pure melodies never fail to reach the hearts of their audience. SOAR recently put a poem by Mari's son Chance, who is the inspiration for the "autism experience" exhibition, to music and "A Song for a broken soul" will be featured in Soar's set at MoSLP.

The Autism Experience Exhibition -
by Mariposa Upshaw, Curator Museum of SL Photography and Angel Dorei Museum
I am honored to present The Autism Experience exhibitions at the Museum of SL Photography and Angel Dorei Museum. Autism is very personal to me. My only child was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome at age 8; he is a shining spirit, a unique individual and my inspiration. This exhibition is not about ribbons and cures and research; it IS about awareness, understanding and acceptance; about compassion and celebrating diversity; about being unique, being "atypical", seeing the world thru different eyes and celebrating that we are all threads in the tapestry of life; it is also about isolation and misunderstanding that can occur when a non-typical person is expected to adapt to a "typical" society.

The artworks on display for the Autism Experience will be auctioned at exhibition end, with all proceeds going to Dreams/the Brigadoon Explorers and VAI - Virtual Abilities Inc, two groups that provide support to residents on the autism spectrum, and awareness and education to residents in general. Donation jars are onsite at both MoSLP and Angel Dorei for the run of the exhibitions.
