The Museum of SL Photography Presents "Fantasia"
The Museum of SL Photography Presents "Fantasia" - The Light of Jazz Calhern and the Dark of Cienega Soon"
May 9 - 31
Opening: Wed May 13, 7pm
SL Musical Guests:
7pm - Senjata Witt
8pm - FrankLee Anatra
The Light of Jazz Calhern and The Dark of Cienega Soon. This exhibit brings this blending meeting just in the middle, not too light not too dark but a contrast enough to take on a little fantasy.
The flowers, particles, wings and light colors of Jazz's work is stunning. Her eye catching motion and feeling in each piece seeminly without effort, simply beautiful.
The dark elf Drow and Dragons of Cienga's work leads you to discover her way with emotion in times past. Her darker style evokes thoughts and dreams.
Both these artists have displayed together once before blending a well rounded exhibit pleasing to many, and again the magic of two in one, works perfectly.
Jazz Calhern Jazz Calhern has been involved with Second Life photography and photo art for over two years. She has experimented with various types of photo art, from landscapes filled with colour and movement to richly-lit portraits. She has had extensive experience as a SL freelance photographer, and her work appears at various SL locations including her own gallery, Jazz By The Sea.

FrankLee AnatFrankLee has been playing nightclubs and parties professionally in the Real World for over a decade. Whether it's a full band or as a single, he feels quite at home standing behind a guitar. Musical Event at Museum of SL Photography
Dual Exhibitions at the Museum of Second Life Photography
and Angel Dorei Museum
April 4 - May 3, 2009
Musical Event at Museum of SL Photography:
Sunday April 19, 5pmSL - 7pm featuring Russell Eponym and Somerset Oh & Rhode
Russell EponymRussell is an accomplished guitarist as well as a superb harmonica player - his finger picking is of the highest caliber and his eloquent vocal style, reminiscent of the finest British thespians of the West End Theatre District, is rich and engaging- whether he is singing one of his original compositions, or any of his superbly selected covers. Russell's original song "You Have no Eyes" which tells of diversity and acceptance, will be featured in his set at MoSLP.
Somerset Oh & Rhode - SOARComposed of Charles Somerset, Bright Oh and Experiment Rhode, Soar's original songs are heartfelt and sincere telling musical stories of people and places who have touched their lives . The honest lyrics and simple pure melodies never fail to reach the hearts of their audience. SOAR recently put a poem by Mari's son Chance, who is the inspiration for the "autism experience" exhibition, to music and "A Song for a broken soul" will be featured in Soar's set at MoSLP.
The Autism Experience Exhibition -
by Mariposa Upshaw, Curator Museum of SL Photography and Angel Dorei Museum
I am honored to present The Autism Experience exhibitions at the Museum of SL Photography and Angel Dorei Museum. Autism is very personal to me. My only child was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome at age 8; he is a shining spirit, a unique individual and my inspiration. This exhibition is not about ribbons and cures and research; it IS about awareness, understanding and acceptance; about compassion and celebrating diversity; about being unique, being "atypical", seeing the world thru different eyes and celebrating that we are all threads in the tapestry of life; it is also about isolation and misunderstanding that can occur when a non-typical person is expected to adapt to a "typical" society.
The artworks on display for the Autism Experience will be auctioned at exhibition end, with all proceeds going to Dreams/the Brigadoon Explorers and VAI - Virtual Abilities Inc, two groups that provide support to residents on the autism spectrum, and awareness and education to residents in general. Donation jars are onsite at both MoSLP and Angel Dorei for the run of the exhibitions.

CNN article/song and bush fire benefit from Mariposa Upshaw
Most of you know me well enough to know my heart and how I feel about art in all of its aspects -visual art, music, dance - and that I truly believe art can change the world. I've called upon friends to support my efforts and dreams on behalf of autism last year and will again this April, but right now, we have a more immediate concern and it is my hope that you will once again, help support an art-related effort that is driven by compassion and humanitarianism.
Angel Dorei Museum's February exhibition is the art of Australia and New Zealand. It has been a joy and honour to display this art and get to know these talented artists. As most of you are aware during the first weekend of February, Victoria Australia became ablaze with devasting deadly bush fires. After listening to my friends who are very dear try to describe the horror of the fires, I felt compelled to do something.. the results:
(1) The benefit last Sunday at Angel Dorei which raised 125,000L due to the contributions of 12 fantastic SL Musicians: Joaquin Gustav, Jubal Enyo, Mash Rhode, Russell Eponym, MichelleD Ecksol, Charles Somerset, Quinton Whitman, Senjata Witt, FrankLee Anatra, Cylindrian Rutabaga, Jessy Sommer, and Jackdog Snook.
(2) The song.. I asked Experiment Rhode if he would like to try to write a song with me about the fires.. we worked on the lyrics and sent the lyrics to Bright Oh, our friend and guitarist lead singer (together with guitarist singer Charles Somerset) of their band Somerset Oh & Rhode.. the result is the song "Too Many Tears" which can be heard/downloaded thru Bright's webpage http://www.brightoh.com/Bright/WHOISBRIGHT.html
I was also honored to be interviewed by Raphaella Nightfire who posted an article here: http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-215726?ref=feeds%2Flatest
So I am asking each of you if you would, please listen to the song, please view the article and if you could, please leave comments on the article for if it gets attention it might make it to CNN news on television. Our hope is to somehow get this song heard and played to raise funds for the bush fire appeal.
Help make art change the world.. we are just citizens of the universe..
thank you for your help
xoxo Mari

From curator Mari Upshaw:
It is a pleasure for me to present Monroe Snook in the first one woman show at MoSLP, featuring Monroe's artistic fashion photography. Monroe is one of the original six artists whose works were part of the opening exhibit of MoSLP and invited to become part of the Museum's permanent collection. Monroe's photography is always rich in color, sets a mood and draws the viewer in to each piece's personal story. Her passion for photography is evident in her work and she continues to be innovative and daring and challenges herself to stretch the boundaries, constantly improving and growing. When you think you know Monroe and her artistry thru landscape or portraits, she surprises you yet again and becomes an innovative and much requested fashion photographer, elevating fashion photography to art. It is my honor to say that Monroe is a great friend and a privilege to present this new body of work at MoSLP.

Many of you know Monroe for her fine-art SL photography. Colorful landscapes, flights of fancy, or emotional portraits. But did you also know that Monroe is a leading SL fashion photographer - having taken shots for top designers of the top SL supermodels?
Fine Art Fashionista - Monroe Snook Fashion Photographer
Monroe's fashion photography style is distinctive. She has an eye and discipline to capture fine detail with her high-resolution images while downplaying backgrounds and settings. She is a pro at capturing emotion through movement and framing. Supermodels remark that a fashion shoot with Monroe is a work-out as she is a stickler for capturing the right angle/perspective/movement of a shot in such a way as to ensure the fashion is queen at all times!
Monroe's fashion photography may be seen featured in the monthly edition of Modavia Fashion Directory where she is a leading contributor; in many high-end designer showrooms such as Haute Couture; Anubis Hartunin, and Indryra Seigo. She is also resident photographer and image consultant at Dreamz Agency.
IM Monroe for her current rate card. She does individual model portfolios and personal portraits. Schedule directly with her for a consult.
